Josh R. McDonald was born in 1989 and grew up on his family's ranch in the Central Oregon town of Powell Butte. He studied at Eastern Oregon University in La Grande, Oregon, where he received his BS in art in 2014.

Josh showed in various juried and capstone exhibitions at E.O.U., earning scholarships and awards such as Best of Show and the Presidential Art Award, making him part of the universities permanent collection. Josh finished art school being selected to represent his school at the Recent Graduates Exhibition at Blackfish Gallery in Portland, Oregon.

In 2016 Josh moved to Seattle, WA. He showed in his first solo exhibition at Cloud Gallery, and soon after a group exhibition at Plank Gallery. He was also given the chance to show work in The Vatican space at Studio E Gallery.

Josh's most recent achievements include a solo show at Art Center East in La Grande, Oregon. And will soon show in 1 Room, a group exhibition presented by Studio E Gallery in conjunction with the Seattle Art Fair.

Josh is currently living in Seattle, Washington, working as an Art Preparator/Handler in Pioneer Square, continuing his art practice.
